Sacred Journey art project

Sacred Journey art project , Northern Territory Australia, 2013     . . . was a Catholic education project which involved working with small groups of interested adults from 4 remote places in the NT - Santa Teresa, Daly River, Port Keats and Bathurst Island - to develop designs which could be translated into painted windows.  The designs were to reflect Catholic and traditional Aboriginal spirituality.

In the 1980’s when working with the Remote Area Teacher Education team at Batchelor College, Lucas had visited Ltyentye Apurte and Bathurst Island. and had students from Wadeye and Nauiyu who had been on residence at Batchelor College. So on each trip she met up with old acquaintances. A highlight was reuniting with the illustrious Miriam Rose at the final workshop in Darwin.
